Air Fryer Pears

Two-stage cook

A short melt at 350°F lets you brush butter over the fruit before the sugar goes on. That is what caramelizes evenly.

Ripe pears soften faster

A pear that yields slightly to pressure cooks in about 15 minutes. Firmer fruit may need a few minutes longer.

Keep halves even

Similar-sized halves finish together. A melon baller makes quick work of the core.

Crowding. Two halves from one pear per batch. Double easily if your basket fits two pears.
Basket liner (optional). Air fryer paper basket liners are optional. They catch drips and make cleanup easier. Use the molded type that fits your basket; air flows around the sides. Never cover the whole basket floor with solid foil.

Step-by-step instructions

Follow each step in order. Photos show what to look for so the basket finish matches the plate.

Prep

  1. Halve the pear and core out the seeds. Mix brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg in a small bowl.

  2. Place pear halves cut side up in the basket. Add 1/2 tbsp butter to the center of each half.

Cook

  1. Air fry at 350°F (177°C) for 2-3 minutes until the butter starts to melt.

  2. Brush melted butter over the pear surfaces. Sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar mixture.

  3. Air fry 12-15 minutes more until the pear is tender when pierced with a fork and caramelized on top.

  4. Plate and serve with whipped cream, ice cream or pecans if you like.
