Air Fryer Radishes

Radishes are not just for salads. Halved and air fried, they turn mellow and slightly sweet with a roasted edge. Toss with olive oil, dried thyme, salt and pepper, then cook at 400°F with a toss halfway through. A low-carb side that surprises people who only know them raw.

Air Fryer Radishes

Halve for even cooking

Whole radishes stay crunchy in the center while the cut face browns. Similar-sized halves finish together.

Toss halfway

A shake or toss at the midpoint exposes new surfaces so every half gets color.

Fork-tender is the goal

Pull when a fork pierces the center easily. Longer roasting deepens the caramelized flavor.

Crowding. About 8 oz fits one layer in most baskets. Double the recipe in two batches if needed.
Basket liner (optional). Air fryer paper basket liners are optional. They catch drips and make cleanup easier. Use the molded type that fits your basket; air flows around the sides. Never cover the whole basket floor with solid foil.

Step-by-step instructions

Follow each step in order. Photos show what to look for so the basket finish matches the plate.

Prep

  1. Wash and dry radishes. Trim tops and roots, halve, and toss with olive oil, thyme, salt and pepper.

Roast

  1. Spread in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Air fry at 400°F (204°C) for 12-15 minutes, tossing halfway, until tender when pierced with a fork.

  2. Plate and serve. A squeeze of lemon or pinch of red pepper flakes is good at the table.
