Air Fryer Apple, Pear and Raspberry Crumble

Crumble works in the air fryer when you use a small heatproof dish that fits the basket. Cook the fruit first until soft, fold in raspberries, then sprinkle over a buttery oat and amaretti topping and bake until golden. Serve with crème fraîche, ice cream or custard.

Air Fryer Apple, Pear and Raspberry Crumble

Use the right dish

A 7-inch (18 cm) round heatproof baking dish should fit most 6 qt baskets. Too large and the topping will not brown evenly.

Cook fruit first

Apples and pears need about 15 minutes before the topping goes on. Stir once or twice so they soften evenly.

Add raspberries last

Fresh raspberries go in after the apple and pear base cooks so they hold their shape.

Crowding. One dish at a time. The fruit stage and topping stage use the same temperature but different times.
Basket liner (optional). Air fryer paper basket liners are optional. They catch drips and make cleanup easier. Use the molded type that fits your basket; air flows around the sides. Never cover the whole basket floor with solid foil.

Step-by-step instructions

Follow each step in order. Photos show what to look for so the basket finish matches the plate.

Cook the fruit

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 360°F (182°C).

  2. Combine apples, pears, brown sugar, orange zest and juice in a 7-inch (18 cm) heatproof dish that fits your basket. Air fry 15 minutes, stirring a couple of times, until the fruit is softening.

  3. Stir the raspberries through the hot fruit.

Top and bake

  1. Rub oats, flour, ground almonds, butter and salt together until crumbly. Stir in amaretti crumbs and brown sugar, then sprinkle over the fruit.

  2. Return the dish to the basket and air fry 10 minutes until the topping is golden.

  3. Serve warm with crème fraîche, ice cream or custard.
