Air Fryer Asparagus

Air fryer asparagus is the fast spring side when you want roasted flavor without heating the big oven. Snap off the woody ends, toss with oil and garlic powder, and cook in a single layer until fork-tender. A squeeze of lemon at the table is enough finish.

Air Fryer Asparagus

Snap the ends

Bend each spear until it breaks naturally, or trim the bottom inch. Woody ends never soften.

Single layer

Spears can overlap slightly but should mostly lie flat so tips and stalks cook together.

Do not overcook

Past tender the tips go limp. Pull when bright green and a fork slides in easily.

Crowding. One pound fits most 6 qt baskets in one layer. Overlap heavily and tips burn before stalks soften.
Basket liner (optional). Air fryer paper basket liners are optional. They catch drips and make cleanup easier. Use the molded type that fits your basket; air flows around the sides. Never cover the whole basket floor with solid foil.
