Air Fryer Carrots

Even stick size

Three-inch pieces with thick ends halved lengthwise cook evenly. Fat coins stay crunchy in the middle while tips burn.

Shake on schedule

A shake every five minutes moves carrots from hot spots so they blister all over instead of scorching on one side.

Herbs after heat

Fresh dill or parsley and lemon juice go on after cooking so the herbs stay bright and the acid lifts the sweetness.

Crowding. One pound fits most baskets with light overlap. Very crowded piles steam instead of blister.
Basket liner (optional). Air fryer paper basket liners are optional. They catch drips and make cleanup easier. Use the molded type that fits your basket; air flows around the sides. Never cover the whole basket floor with solid foil.

Step-by-step instructions

Follow each step in order. Photos show what to look for so the basket finish matches the plate.

Prep

  1. Cut carrots crosswise into 3-inch pieces. Halve any thick ends lengthwise so all pieces are about 1/2-3/4 inch thick. Toss with olive oil, salt and garlic powder.

Cook

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 360°F (182°C).

  2. Add carrots to the basket in an even layer (slight overlap is fine). Air fry 10-12 minutes, shaking every 5 minutes, until tender and blistered.

  3. Return carrots to the bowl. Toss with lemon juice and dill or parsley. Serve with lemon wedges.
